The Neighbour’s Alibi

A woman is murdered on the eleventh floor of a tower block and every neighbour gives the same alibi – because the building’s residents’ association rehearsed it together, six weeks in advance.

Zhou Huimin, 44, is found dead in her flat on the eleventh floor. Every resident on the floor was, by their own accounts, at the association’s evening meeting nine floors below. Detective Gu Han discovers the meeting’s minutes were typed six weeks before the murder, and that the association drafted eleven individual alibis for eleven individual residents.
